Talking about Health chief to be confirmed amid crisis - More politics- msnbc.com

Hmmmmmm....I think either the media or government are trying to change our focus from the economy and war....to swine flu.  Swine flu in the US isn't as bad in Mexico because Mexico has a worse healthcare system....not because it's such a killer flu.  The swine flu responds to treatment with Tamiflu!  That means you won't die from it.  Also, the young and elderly, which are typically hit worse by flues are least susepetical(?) to this strain.  So don't freak about it....just use your common sense!  Remember to wash your hands, cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, and take vitamins and fluids to help your body defend itself from this flu pandemic.

Talking about 8 Challenges in Autism Today - 1 - Health Topics - MSN Health & Fitness

By Coeli Carr for MSN Health & Fitness

Facing facts: Science has established that autism is a developmental brain disorder, but experts have not yet been able to pinpoint why the behavioral outbursts associated with this disorder occur, says Richard Foxx, Ph.D. Foxx is professor of psychology at Penn State University, an adjunct professor of pediatrics at Penn State College of Medicine, and co-editor of Making a Difference: Behavioral Intervention for Autism (Pro-Ed, 2001). What experts do agree on is that these behaviorswhich may include tantrums, self-injury and aggressivenessare learned, says Foxx, whose specialty is treating behavioral problems in people who have autism. The behavior, he says, is a way for a child with autism to communicate the need for attention or to escape from an undesirable situation.

What to do: Foxx suggests parents enlist the services of a board-certified behavior analyst who can help assess the motivation behind the disruptive behavior. (You can find one at www.bacb.com.) For example, he says, a child may have a strong negative reaction to taking a bath and will throw a tantrum whenever asked to take one. However, a behavior analyst might determine that the child was watching a favorite DVD when asked to take a bath, and was expressing frustration over being interrupted. Possible solutions might be to schedule the bath at a different time, and then, using positive reinforcement, letting the child watch that DVD.

If parents cannot afford a private behavior analyst, Foxx suggests requesting one through the school district or a mental health organization.

7 Truly Horrifying, Real-Life Halloween Villains

Quote

NudeCelebrityDeathSUV - Skewering Pop Culture, Celebs, Music, Movies and TV - Michael Myers Is A Sof
By Kevin SmithAs Halloween approaches, we're constantly reminded of ghouls, witches and zombies. But the worst creatures our imaginations can conjure aren't fictional. After all, evil is an inherent part of human nature. Think about that strange old man who lives down the hall from you. You keep telling yourself he's just a kooky lost soul in need of a friend, when in reality he probably just ate a cat last night… and you’re next. Nor are maniacal, murderous impulses reserved purely for the Hitlers and bin Ladens of the world.

True evil seems to emerge when human desire is mixed with power, insanity and wanton disregard of social mores. To be sure though, it has nothing to do with the dead walking the earth to suck our blood or haunt our houses. Vampires hate mirrors, Frankenstein’s monster just wants love and Wolfman’s got nards. The living are way, way scarier then anything that bumps in the night. And here are seven truly terrifying, often overlooked figures from history that make Michael Myers look like he's merely in need of some behavioral therapy. But if you try use any of these nutjobs as inspiration for a costume idea, don't say we didn't warn you about the offended stares and vitriolic epithets.
